‘The Dragon’s Keep’ by Emilie

Emilie has enjoyed reading and writing since a very young age. She also enjoys dancing, synchronized swimming and music. ‘The Taking of Sage’ by Sakura

Language Arts always seemed like the easiest class for Sakura. She had no problems with grammar, homonyms, and other writing skills. In 7th grade, a teacher suggested Sakura should attend the Calgary Young Writers' Conference. Since then she has been to the Writers' Conference twice and has gone to a writing camp called WordsWorth for two consecutive years. She plans to go again this summer. Besides writing, Sakura has taken guitar lessons for four years. She also enjoys taking pictures while travelling. calgary book fair

‘Oliver Saves the Princess’ by Tiffany

Besides story writing, Tiffany likes to sketch, swim, read, daydream, and sleep in on Saturdays. She’s aspiring to become a writer of some sort one day too. Tiffany’s also a videogame-fan, though she promises that she doesn’t play as much as her little brother does (at least, she doesn’t believe so). What she does believe is that her family is wonderful, inspiring and supportive to her, and that many awesome teachers have supported her to write, erase, and keep on writing. If asked what she would do if she has the chance to do anything imaginable, Tiffany would easily say that she’d invite a whole bunch of friends to ride dragons in the moonlight. Either that, or get some work published. calgary book fair

The winning stories in each age group were professionally edited, then collected into an anthology, featuring not only the story, but also a photograph and biography of the author, printed by our wonderful sponsors at Blitzprint. Each young author in the anthology also received ten complimentary copies of the anthology for friends and family.

Thank you to everyone who entered. Good luck with your writing - and get ready for the 2010 Children's Fiction Writing Award!
